Half-a-Cardi Pattern

So I decided to not go with either of those patterns and just wing it.  It's what I do best.  lol

K of C Exemplification Banquet 2007

Half-a-Cardi

Half-a-Cardi

Yarn: Paton's Grace in Night (Black) - 2 balls
Size: XS
Needles: 16" size 6 circular and size 6 dpns
Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows per 4"

This just includes directions for making the size I made.  A more experienced knitter can fudge the numbers to make a larger size.  Sorry, no time to figure out the math right now.

W/ circular needle, CO 90 sts (for a larger size, CO the amount desired making sure it's an even number).
Rows 1-6: K every row
Row 7: K 15, place marker A, K 14, place marker B, K 32, place marker C, K 14, place marker D, K 15.
Row 8: K 5, purl to last 5 sts, K 5.
Row 9: (K to marker, m1, pm (pass marker), m1)  across.   K remaining sts in row.
Repeat rows 8 and 9 until there are 60 sts in between markers A and B, and C and D.  These are for the sleeves.  For a larger size, just keep repeating rows 8 and 9 until the space between those markers measures the same as your arm circumference ending with a purl side row.

As you knit the next row, place the arm sts on waste yarn to leave those unworked for later.

WS: repeat row 8
RS: K all sts

Repeat those two rows until the total length of the back is the same as the measurement from below the base of your neck to the bottom of your bra strap.  Then knit every row for 5 rows.  BO.

Pick up the sleeve sts.  Working in the round with dpns, purl first row, knit second row, purl 3rd row, then CO.  Repeat for other sleeve.

there is a similar pattern on craftster. she uses yo instead of m1 for the raglan sleeve. it is called the anthropologie-inspired capelet. you can search it and it will pop up.

Hi there!

I found your pattern on a google search and have been working on it  for about a week now... I love it! Your instructions so far have been very clear... luckily I wear XS so I don't have to convert the sizing at all :P

Thanks for the great pattern!

What a wonderful pattern. Just looking for something like this! Hope it will fit me since I'm a beginner, lol. I'm a size S so it should be ok, otherwise I have a beautiful gift for someone :D Thanks for sharing.
